IBC is up and running again in Amsterdam and the pace of change together with challenges to the conventional ways of working for broadcasters have never been more evident. Events and technology featured this year range from the IBC Award Ceremony, the development of 5G to the ‘Future Zone’, showcasing disruptive new tech fresh from the R&D departments. The show will play host to numerous guest speakers including Chris Bobotis, Director of Immersive Media, Adobe, Rob Le Bras-Brown, CMO of Nokia, Tania Pouli, Senior Scientist at Technicolour and David Ward, CTO Engineering at Cisco, discussing topics ranging from VR to brand marketing to content creation.

The show kicked off with the popular IABM State of the Industry Business breakfast which featured panelists Muriel De Lathouwer – CEO EVS, Jeff Rosica – Avid, Charlie Vogt – CEO Imagine, Chris Wagner – EVP Marketing and Strategy, Neulion and Tony Emerson – MD Media and Cable, Microsoft where there was plenty of up to the minute industry data and trends shared by IABM CEO Peter White and insights on the rapid pace of change in business and technology models as consumers demand new ways of consuming media. Live video, especially in social media, cloud and hybrid cloud models for storage and production together with the increasing value of premium sports content are high on the list of priorities for broadcasters, content producers and service providers in 2017.

Over the years IBC has gained a strong reputation for being the top show for professionals engaged in the creation, management and delivery of entertainment and news content worldwide. 2016 saw over 55,000 attendees and over 1,600 exhibitors flying into Amsterdam from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North and South America.
